Actress Prunella Scales CBE is best known for her portrayal of Sybil Fawlty in the classic BBC sitcom ‘Fawlty Towers’. Every episode of the show was recorded in TC8 at BBC Television Centre – regarded by many as the finest sitcom studio in the country – and one of the five studios due for demolition under Stanhope’s plans. She writes:
“As an actor who has worked in the BBC T.V. Centre’s excellent studios over many years, I’m shocked at the proposal to demolish half of this valuable facility, especially at a time when television studio space is in short supply, and often geographically inconvenient.”
