PARKY JOINS THE CAMPAIGN!

April 20, 2013 · Nick Harris

Already publicly outspoken about the potential demolition of Television Centre, we are delighted to announce that Michael Parkinson is joining the campaign. He writes: “Demolishing the studios is an act of cultural vandalism akin to demolishing the Royal Opera House, the National Film Theatre and the National Theatre and they wouldn’t do that would they?”

I agree. It’s the worst decision the BBC could have made. When Michael Grade commented, the night the centre closed, that the studios didn’t have the most sophisticated technology, now needed, Sir Terry Wogan replied. “Wouldn’t it have been better to use the money to upgrade it rather than some of the stuff you HAVE spent the money on….there was a huge round of applause! The audience that night, were not stupid!!
