CBBC stars Dick & Dom are the latest to join the campaign. They wrote:
From a very early age, our dream was to work at BBC Television Centre, and for over 17 proud years, that dream came true, recording many shows there including the BAFTA winning programme 'Dick and Dom in da Bungalow'. The simple fact is there isn't another TV production house that has the unique atmosphere, history and feeling of working at TVC. In our years there, the studios were always full and had an electric atmosphere,so to demolish half of some of the most modernly equipped studios in the land would be extremely wrong. Not only from a historical angle but a financial one too. There aren't enough TV studios in this country to supply the need and if TVC was refurbished and salvaged it would once again be a shining light in the UK television industry. The respect that Stanhope would receive would be tremendous. The UK doesn't need more shops, it doesn't need more flats but it does need a CENTRE for the British TV industry and Stanhope have the power to control this. Here's hoping that dream can continue... Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood (Dick) (Dom) PS: Also,we promise not to block the drains of the building again with our creamy muck muck!
